Everyone has heard the expression "It takes a village to raise a child" and few would argue as to its accuracy. I maintain that parents - particularly single parents - need outside support as well as the guidance to foster change.

With that in mind, and through my own experience as the child of a single parent, I've developed The C.H.A.M.P Within program. "The C.H.A.M.P Within" is a book about my personal story of growing up in inner city Baltimore with a struggling single mother. I highlight the positive and negative lessons / traits she bestowed upon me as well as the personal demons with which she dealt. As a result of these experiences, I came to the epiphany of the C.H.A.M.P. (Children Having a Missing Parent) concept and what it represents for pre-teens and teen from single parent homes. C.H.A.M.P. is a life coaching program that is appropriate for youth between the ages of 12 and 18.

My radio program, Heroes at Home, delves even deeper into single-parenting concerns. It is a radio show that features a full range of guests - from single parents in the trenches to professionals in the field - and offers insight into single parent issues. I also highlight and interview exceptional tweens / teens kids from single parent homes.

Every child deserves every advantage. My focus is on children, especially teens and preteens, and providing insight and tips that help single parents nurture sons and daughters to shine as the champs of their own lives.
