Helping EVERY child (those from single parent homes and beyond) obtain every advantage. Helping single parents acquire a life of enjoyment, fulfillment, and achievement.I have an intimate knowledge of the single parent having grown up with one. I spent my formative years watching my mother work tirelessly to provide for me, often spending long hours at two or three different jobs. She lived her entire life just trying to survive and make a better life for me, giving up her own dreams in the process. Although her spirit was strong, she suffered from a deep depression that gradually consumed her.
In August 2007, my mother passed away after 13 years of battling congestive heart failure. She died at 73 without realizing any of the goals she had in her own life.
The story of me and my mother is not unique. Unfortunately, it is all too common. Many parents have sacrificed for their children, but in so doing, they may have passed on negative attitudes and emotions, as well as a false definition of happiness. Add to that the negative information our children are bombarded with every day through the media, as well as an obsession with celebrity and material gain, and single parenting has become tougher than ever.
My mother’s story and personal struggles are the motivation behind Heroes at Home Radio. My own life experiences led to the creation of C.H.A.M.P., which is designed to enrich the lives of children from single-parent homes. As a successful IT professional, nonprofit co-founder, radio show host, motivator, and author, I am proud of my mother’s influence on my accomplishments.
My goal now is to educate, entertain, and motivate young people to pursue their dreams by helping them develop character, happiness, attitude, mentality, and purpose. In addition to my primary focus on preteens and teens, I seek to help single moms and dads have a more well-rounded existence for themselves, so they’re not simply “surviving.” Happy and fulfilled parents are the best guarantee we have to ensure the development of happy and fulfilled children.
